Spirulina 30 capsules by YAMAMOTO

€ 12,90

Spirulina is considered a true "superfood," rich in highly bioavailable nutrients; it is even given to astronauts during their missions and is commonly used by athletes and vegans.

Spirulina (Arthrospira), contrary to popular belief, is not an alga but a cyanobacterium—a blue-green, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral-shaped, spiral- sodium bicarbonate, potassium salts, magnesium, and selenium. Its use, however, has its roots in ancient times and cultures; in fact, in Mexico during the 16th century, the Aztecs harvested it from Lake Texcoco, and in Chad, it has been consumed since the 9th century. In recent years, spirulina has gained significant fame, thanks in part to its recognition by the UN (1974) and the WHO, which, respectively, have called it the “Food of the Future” and the “Best Food of the 21st Century.” More recently, NASA has turned the spotlight on this microalgae, incorporating it into astronauts’ diets. Thanks to its characteristics and properties, spirulina cultivation has been incorporated into numerous global projects aimed at combating malnutrition in developing countries. A 2016 study published in Maternal and Pediatric Nutrition involving 87 malnourished and anemic children in Gaza demonstrated that three months of spirulina supplementation improved various growth factors such as weight and height and increased levels of iron, ferritin, and hemoglobin. Also in 2016, the government of the Indian state of Karnataka, in collaboration with JSW Energy, established a program to provide spirulina to malnourished children. The impact of the program can be viewed on the JSW website, which reported a 46% reduction in cases of malnutrition among children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers.

Its nutritional properties are truly remarkable. Spirulina is considered a "complete" food with unique nutritional characteristics, containing a very high concentration of highly bioavailable amino acids, minerals (especially iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and selenium), vitamins (B complex, folic acid, vitamins A, C, and E), and essential fatty acids. This concentration of nutrients makes it exceptionally nutritious and restorative, and our bodies are able to absorb it quickly and easily.

Its extremely high protein content (65–70 grams per 100 grams of food, compared to 20–25 grams in a cut of lean meat), makes it a food of primary importance as a source of so-called "biliproteins," that is, plant proteins that have been pre-digested by the plant itself and which, thanks to this, allow for better absorption, making it particularly suitable for those following vegetarian or vegan diets.

Thanks to their excellent vitamin content and valuable antioxidant properties, spirulina supplements are very popular among athletes (especially those involved in endurance sports) and among people looking to achieve their ideal weight.
Athletes can benefit from the high content of biotin and ferredoxin, which inhibits the formation of lactic acid during particularly intense physical exertion, while the abundance of amino acids it contains supports muscle mass.

Those following weight-loss diets to control or reduce their weight can benefit from its properties, as phenylalanine (3%) acts on the appetite center of the nervous system, reducing hunger pangs and promoting a feeling of fullness. Furthermore, its use during controlled low-calorie diets helps maintain a certain nutritional balance without causing weakness.

Its wide range of uses extends to children, convalescents, and those suffering from eating disorders (bulimia, anorexia), where spirulina helps address the nutritional deficiencies typical of these conditions, as it compensates for any vitamin or mineral deficiencies and may also help reduce the occurrence of bulimic episodes; meanwhile, its unique cell wall, which lacks cellulose, makes it highly digestible.

This supplement is particularly beneficial for pregnant and breastfeeding women, due to its high content of calcium, iron, and folic acid in a highly bioavailable form.

Given all these benefits related to spirulina’s properties, it continues to be widely used not only by athletes and those recovering from illness, but also in vegan and vegetarian diets. Regular consumption improves fat oxidation and increases glutathione (GSH) levels, a powerful antioxidant that plays a key role in maintaining the health of the immune and muscular systems and in reducing the risk of injury. It has a blood pressure-lowering effect confirmed by studies, which appears to be caused by increased expression of nitric oxide synthase at the endothelial level, which acts by dilating blood vessels and protecting against cardiovascular risk. However, spirulina intake by individuals with hypertension should be carefully evaluated by their treating physician due to its high sodium content. It has a cardiovascular protective effect, helping to reduce bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides, while promoting an increase in good cholesterol (HDL). Some studies have demonstrated spirulina’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity in vivo. In particular, spirulina supplementation works by reducing the concentration of IL-6, the protein marker of cellular inflammation. Recently, its role in the field of aesthetics has also emerged, thanks to its antioxidant properties. In fact, spirulina is an ally for the health of skin, hair, and nails and is also being used in anti-aging, anti-acne, anti-dandruff, and regenerating treatments. Furthermore, spirulina algae can be considered a true nourishment for dull and devitalized skin; it provides hydration and helps the skin regain its normal hydrolipidic balance.
