Book by Lee Bruce: The Tao of Kung Fu, Vol. 2
(Bruce Lee)
Bruce Lee
(San Francisco 1940 – Hong Kong 1973) In 1953, at the age of 13, he began practicing Kung Fu in the Wing Chun style. He seemed to have such a natural talent for this art that he gave up his career as a dancer. From that moment on, a new life began for the young Bruce. Throughout his life, Bruce not only studied martial arts but also learned from his master, Yip Man, various philosophical concepts, including the teachings of Buddha, Confucius, Lao Tzu, and the founders of Taoism. In 1959, Bruce returned to San Francisco, where he studied and began teaching Kung Fu. During this period, he won numerous tournaments and, through his many demonstrations, attracted the attention of several film directors. In Los Angeles, Bruce Lee began his acting career by starring in the popular television series The Green Hornet as Kato. During that time, Bruce also taught Kung Fu to many famous actors. He began publishing his first books on his new art, "Jeet Kune Do." Until then, he had limited himself to writing down all his thoughts on martial arts while developing this new style. With his extensive knowledge, he was able to refine and improve many techniques he had previously learned. Bruce starred in 25 films and television series. In 1972, in one of his best Kung Fu films, *Return of the Dragon*, Bruce starred alongside Chuck Norris, Danny D’Agostino, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. On July 20, 1973, he died in Hong Kong; the causes remain a mystery.
