Book by Lee Bruce and Uyehara Mitoshi: Secret Techniques Vol. 2
The training and exercises that form the foundation of Kung Fu. Bruce Lee shot across the worlds of martial arts and cinema, shining as brightly as a meteor. On July 20, 1973, in Hong Kong, however, he vanished like a meteor, taken by a sudden death at the premature age of 32.
Bruce Lee began his martial arts training with Wing Chun, under the tutelage of the late Yip Man, to overcome the personal insecurity caused by life in Hong Kong. Perhaps because his training had pushed him to the brink of fanaticism, he was able to mature and refine himself into a philosopher, a technician, and an innovator in the martial arts. After an intensive study of various styles and theories, Bruce Lee developed his own unique technique, which he later named Jeet Kune Do, the technique of the stopping fist. He drew inspiration from his predecessors in martial arts (more than two thousand books), but also in his formal education (a degree in philosophy from the University of Washington in Seattle).
Lee was also able to combine his martial arts skills with his knowledge of cinematic acting techniques, starring in several films: *The Big Boss*, *Fists of Fury*, *Way of the Dragon*, and *Enter the Dragon*.
Bruce Lee’s death left fans of martial arts and his films in a state of disbelief. Due to the growing demand to learn more about him, his Jeet Kune Do was published, and is now followed by this series of books on Bruce Lee’s Secret Techniques. This is the second volume in the series. Here, the secret of Bruce Lee’s training method is explained, along with how he developed his strength, speed, and footwork skills.
Bruce Lee,MitoshiUyehara
(San Francisco 1940 – Hong Kong 1973) In 1953, at the age of 13, he began practicing Kung Fu in the Wing Chun style. He seemed to have such a natural talent for this art that he gave up his career as a dancer. From that moment on, a new life began for the young Bruce. Throughout his life, Bruce not only studied martial arts but also learned from his master, Yip Man, various philosophical concepts, including the teachings of Buddha, Confucius, Lao Tzu, and the founders of Taoism. In 1959, Bruce returned to San Francisco, where he studied and began teaching Kung Fu. During this period, he won numerous tournaments and, through his many demonstrations, attracted the attention of several film directors. In Los Angeles, Bruce Lee began his acting career by starring in the popular television series The Green Hornet as Kato. During that time, Bruce also taught Kung Fu to many famous actors. He began publishing his first books on his new art, "Jeet Kune Do." Until then, he had limited himself to writing down all his thoughts on martial arts while developing this new style. With his extensive knowledge, he was able to refine and improve many techniques he had previously learned. Bruce starred in 25 films and television series. In 1972, in one of his best Kung Fu films, *Return of the Dragon*, Bruce starred alongside Chuck Norris, Danny D’Agostino, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. On July 20, 1973, he died in Hong Kong; the causes remain a mystery.
Mitoshi Uyehara was the founder and owner of Black Belt Magazine. During the publication’s early years, Uyehara published many articles by Bruce Lee, and a friendship developed between them. Uyehara, a martial artist himself, played a key role in organizing all of Bruce Lee’s material for publication.
