While the entire formula is the complete "winning" synergy of this product, the "star" carbohydrate in Charge PERFORMANCE is Palatinose® , or "Isomaltulose," a disaccharide composed of glucose and fructose, also found naturally in honey and cane sugar syrup. Its production occurs through modern enzymatic conversion techniques starting from sucrose. Isomaltulose has a high sweetening power, and for this reason it is often compared (and replaced) with sucrose. Like sucrose, it is completely digested in the intestine, although its digestion occurs more slowly. A structural characteristic is that the bonds between the molecules that form isomaltulose (alpha(a)-1,6-glycosidic acid) are more stable than those of the molecules found in sucrose. Therefore, an interesting and highly appreciated note for athletes seeking optimal performance, blood glucose and insulin levels increase much less than with other sugars. This particular type of bond between these two components (fructose and glucose) slows the rate of absorption. Subsequently, our intestinal disaccharidases, which are the enzymes capable of breaking the molecular bond between the two sugars forming the disaccharide, promote their subsequent absorption and bioavailability, proceeding much more slowly for isomaltulose than for other more well-known disaccharide sugars, such as sucrose. As a result, blood sugar and insulin levels will have a significantly smaller increase and will still be very gradual without creating dramatic spikes or drops in blood sugar, making it a very useful element especially for endurance sports such as cycling, athletics, cycling, triathlon, cross-country skiing, etc. Its main characteristic is its low glycemic index and reduced osmolarity compared to glucose and fructose , carbohydrate sources widely used in the past in sports supplementation, but which have various limitations or potential side effects. Split glucose enters the bloodstream more quickly than other sugars, resulting in less stimulation of insulin release. A curious characteristic of this carbohydrate is that it does not promote the onset of tooth decay because it cannot be utilized by the microorganisms responsible for its formation. From a "metabolic" standpoint, some comparative studies have shown that by using isomaltulose instead of other disaccharides with a higher glycemic index, the body oxidizes fewer carbohydrates and more fatty acids, thus conserving carbohydrate reserves. Combined in synergy with Palatinose®, to promote better restoration of glycogen reserves, better protein synthesis and to modulate the wave of cortisol (stress hormone) generated by training, there are essential amino acids (on a vegetal fermentation basis), considered to be truly fundamental elements for triggering and to best support muscle reconstruction processes at such a "crucial" time for the synthesis of new proteins** not only to support precious damaged muscles.
